Could this be the end for Alexander and/or Morris?

morris gone for sure…no way you sit duckett and jones on the bench and play mo in any situation. SA may limp though one more year if they dont release him cause holmgren is in love with him still for some reason

Can’t wait to see what the story is on this RB…and I think he’ll get a better chance in Seattle.

Homlegreen is stock piling on RBs like Gruden does on QBs. As Jones owner, I would love for Seattle to cut SA. He has lost his MoJo anyways.

Jones getting a full load in SEA would be interesting… keep in mind that Duckett and Jones have similar paying deals..

I remember a story about Jones being relieved that Parcells was gone because he had had to change his natural running style to adjust to the offensive blocking schemes. The rumors of Jones to Miami were in stark contrast to that.
At about 3m a year neither contract prohibits Seattle from getting the guy they want (stewart) or taking one later on in rounds 2-4. Where and when they take the rookie RB will at least tell us their plans for these RB’s. My best guess is that if either Duckett or Jones produces it allows time for any rook to get his feet wet and be ready to get more of a workload up to the bye week then continue ro transition after the buy week. Big guess but why not, it’s the time of year for that.

Add Rock Cartwright to the names signing 3m a year contracts, his is for 3 years.
Seattle got their guys cheap!

That is a considerable amount of moolah for a guy who carried twice for zero yards in 2007! Oh to be on the Redskins’ payroll!

Tav, you are correct. Jones prefers running in a zone blocking scheme. Dallas style was all about beating defenders one on one. Here is the article from journalist for Dallas News saying how Seattle is better fit then Dallas and he predict he will run for 1700 yards. link
Here is link saying Shaun could be post June 1st cut. link

I can’t see Seattle now using their first round pick on a rookie RB. Maybe a later pick in the draft.

Just to clarify, Rock Cartwright’s Redskins deal totals $3.35M over 3 years. He’ll make the league minimum for a six year player this coming season.
As for Jones, I think he landed in a good spot and it certainly opens the exit door for SA.

Thanks bahubali! Good insight on the scheme.
That first article uses the faulty math of two good games vs Seattle to come up with the 1700 yrds so just be aware of that those who don’t read the article.
The second article pretty much sets the target date for his release, imo.

With everybody lately getting hype off the rookie picks, and all these teams looking else where for veterans. Does anybody see the value of these rookies slipping a little? I mean outside the Jets the other options are kind of looking dimmer by the day. Not trying to be negative just an observation. Cardinals are still the next best in my opinion for a rookie, but could be ruff as far as help right away for fantasy teams for the other landing spots. Then possibly throw a broken down Shaun Alexander into another situation to split with somebody.

I agree on this one. I think more and more teams are going to a RBBC approach because it has proven to be successful. The days of leaning on one stud RB are gone except for a few situations.
The RBs may slide a little. Even in Dallas, I posted in another topic, they are pretty high on Thompson to split carries with Barber. Realistically in the first round you still have OAK, NYJ, DET, HOU and maybe Arizona who could take a RB.

I think the Journalist is being sarcastic. If he starts, then he will get 1100 to 1300 yards and 7 TDs.

He isn’t be sarcastic, he explains why… it’s because has had a handful of games there in SEA and in those games, he is avg. 150+ rushing yards per game, so he multiplied 155×8 then gave Jones like 60 something yards rushing per game in his other 8 starts… not gonna happen, as we say in our breaking news on this article. Fun to think about, because he loves that SEA field, but not a good system for projecting someone’s stats (multiplying a couple game average x 8).

Prolly sarcastic is not the right word to describe. I believe he is just having fun. It should be counted as one of the bold prediction for year 2008.

Maybe we should put him in the running for our “bold prediction” contest
