  • RB Willis McGahee is reportedly angering Ravens officials?
    08-20  by FFXclusive

According to Mike Preston of BaltimoreSun.com, Ravens coach John Harbaugh does not know when injured RB Willis McGahee (knee) will return, and that the running back could possibly miss the entire preseason. Preston then went on to say that he wouldn't be surprise if the Ravens cut McGahee before the season is over.

FFX: The part about McGahee getting cut at some point is almost not worth posting, but it needs addressing because it's hitting news wires everywhere. Look, McGahee isn't getting cut and he recently vowed to be ready for Week 1. He has reportedly angered team officials with his work ethic, but don't even consider counting on him being cut. Keep in mind that a report emerged the other day suggesting that the Dolphins would consider trading Ronnie Brown before the season began… and what happened? The Dolphins immediately shot that down. Hopefully this news affects McGahee's value in your upcoming drafts - That's good for you… but as we continue to write, draft Ray Rice at almost any cost. The rookie won't take his job, but if hurt, Rice will produce under Cam Cameron. That RB combo could crank out top 8RB numbers in '08.

Let's talk about it… this report is ridiculous, so I wanted to address it. As our report above says (which is on our news page), this is great news for those who haven't drafted yet.

Now you can get a top 10RB (if you land both Rice and McGahee) at third-round value? Who knows…

Let's hear this from both sides… I'm sure some will buy into this, but at the cost of what McGahee will cost… how can he not be targeted right now by almost anyone?

do these reporters just make stuff up hoping that one might actually hit?  i mean how the hell do you say mcgahee might be cut?  either he is completely making crap up or he has inside info, and im guessing the former

well, we report almost everything because we can then address things that need to be shutdown. When I argue McGahee, you almost always see “draft Ray Rice” immediately behind it (or in the same sentence)… that part is important. Draft Rice, but this could not make McGahee a steal… which is great news.

My next draft, here is a probable line-up:

Let's say 6 spot, 12 team, no PPR

  • Frank Gore
  • Braylon Edwards
  • Willis McGahee (with Rice)
  • Anquan Boldin
  • Derek Anderson or Palmer

And imagine if you can land McGahee in the early 4th? You could go Gore, Braylon, Chad, McGahee/rice… lol

I'm not saying McGahee will fall to the fourth, just  hoping he does.

Yeah, and I've been busted on for taking Ray Rice as my RB #4 or #5 in drafts.  I'm not drinking the Koolade with McGahee.  Didn't like him in Buffalo, and definitely don't like him now.  Still don't get why everyone is still high on Boldin, since he wants to be traded.  He's gonna BUST HUGE!  Derek Anderson is gonna do the same and won't be a surprise to everyone this season.  Bring in Brady Quinn already, who they've paid a HUGE some of money.  Now, why don't people realize these things on this site????

I have 1.10 pick in my dynasty draft.  It's a rookie draft with some free agents that weren't kept last year.  I have Mcgahee on my team.

Available players that might go in first round are:

Mcfadden, J. Stewart, Mendy, Forte, K. Smith, Julius Jones, Fred Taylor, Chris Johnson, Felix Jones, Roddy White, Chris Chambers, Anthony Gonzalez, Brett Favre, and Ray Rice

Do you guys think I'm safe at the #10 position to land Rice or do I need to trade up a couple of spots???

tough to say… I think it could be close with that list, if that is almost all of the better guys.. I'd probably trade up a few spots just be safe, but don't give up line-up talent..

Brady Quinn signed a five-year worth $9.25 million, which includes $7.75 million in guarantees….$11 million can be had via escalators in 2010 and 2011 if Quinn takes at least 55% of the snaps in each of the first two seasons, or at least 70% in his third year. There is roughly $9.8 million in other money, but to my knowledge it is in the deal in such a way that he won't likely be earned.

Quinn is not being paid HUGE money. FYI.

McGahee, Boldin and Anderson all have some risk, that I agree with you on, but with McGahee we stress the combo of McGahee/Rice and with Anderson, there isn't real way around the risk with him… but we see the talent, and it shines through much like Palmer's and Romo's did when we projected them as top 5QBs when virtually no other Sites out there had them slotted as starter worthy that year.

Its' why we play the game. Will we miss some things? Absolutely, especially due to injuries, etc. We will miss some stuff just by misjudging talent, but we've done pretty good with projecting breakout QBs :)

Oh, and Boldin isn't my favorite WR. I do like him, but I was just pulling out a WR in his area when listing that team above. You could be right about Q, and he certainly has his injury issues each year.

I just got McGahee at 3.08 in a 12 teamer

1.08 R. Moss
2.05 B. Edwards
3.08 W. McGahee

I sure hope McGahee is fine.
