Anyone here a regular listener of Stern? Today's show might go down as one of the all-time “ones to remember” with Artie Lang's resignation. Pretty intense. They aren't even replaying it this afternoon for some odd reason.

I havent listened in a while. I felt like it got very repetitive and they spent way too much time talking about how awesose it is being on satellite.
I also thought that they didnt push the envelope on sirius at all. The finally got their vehicle to be the real deal Stern show and they stayed basically the same as they were on FM.
What happened with Artie? What was said?

I do have Sirius… they are replaying yesterdays show, so it appears they don't want anyone to hear what went down. I heard about what went down, but didn't hear it live.
Artie is a mess!

Artie tried to hit his assitant, Teddy, and blamed Howard for getting him going. Took a bunch of staff to hold Artie back, and then he reportedly quit.

Wow. I’m going to try and find it. Surely someone has it uploaded somewhere.

Howard really struck a nerve with Artie. Art is crazy though, i mean like uncontrollably crazy. I used to hang out with a guy like that. You just never knew what was going to set him off. I would go play poker at his house and it was always like you were walking on pins and needles. This guy was so out of control he would have choked his own mother out. Needless to say I have started spending less and less time with this guy. Ridiculous, Artie needs to get his anger in check otherwise people will begin to rid themselves of him.

I missed it the first time around as I was in work by the time it went down. But a friend emailed me that they were replaying it on 101 and actually got to hear it on the show (the internet is a beautiful thing!) It was super crazy and about as serious as it gets on that show. You could hear afterward that everyone was real shaken up and they got real concerned for Artie since he's such a loose cannon.
A lot of the fans calling in afterward were laying this at the feet of Howard for provoking this, but I sincerely believe he was unaware of the depth of this and walked into a hornet's nest. In the end, Artie has to be responsible for his own actions. The whole trying to hold him back was unreal… he's like a giant bear!
We won't get much more on this for awhile or even know if Artie comes back for a few weeks since the show is on hiatus next week.

Have they talked about it at all or have they just swept it under the rug? And if they have talked about it what was said? Any apologies? This is 20 questions.

Artie is back. They talked about it on Monday for about an hour or so and now it's business as usual. Basically Artie said that he was really mad because the guy was “loaning” money from him and doing frivilous stuff with it: TV's, trip to Amsterdam, etc. Basically taking advantage of his generosity and then crying about his pay. He finally fired Teddie apparently.
And no apologies. He never actually hit Teddie, so there was really no assault to speak of. The one funny thing that came out of it was other comedians (some being Artie's “friends”) basically sending in audition tapes to take his place on the show. I don't believe Howard has yet revealed who those guys were.
