Below you will find our Week 1 Fantasy Football Player Projections for the 2009 fantasy football season. Our Weekly Player Projections include over 220 impact fantasy football players. Basically, we project weekly stats for every team's top quarterback, top two running backs, top three wide receivers and top tight end. Week 1 is already posted and we will keep these projections updated all the way up to kickoff. We usually have our projections ready hours after the previous week's Monday Night Football game. If you're looking for full-season player projections for the entire 2009 fantasy football season, click here.

Chargers at Raiders

Game Time: 09-14 10:15 pm ET

Player
Match-Up
Week 1 Projections
QB Philip Rivers
vs. Raiders
240 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs
RB LaDainian Tomlinson
100 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 20 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
RB Darren Sproles
20 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
WR Vincent Jackson
6 recs, 90 rec yds, 1 rec TDs
WR Chris Chambers
4 recs, 65 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
WR Malcom Floyd
1 recs, 11 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
TE Antonio Gates
4 recs, 64 rec yds, 1 rec TDs

Chargers Notes:
LaDainian Tomlinson – LT2 should have a nice day against the Raiders. Tomlinson is no longer a top 5 pick in redraft formats, but he he deserves to be ranked in that top 10-12 range.
Vincent Jackson – Jackson could be one of the biggest surprises this season in terms of middle-round receivers. Expect him to shine in Week 1.
Antonio Gates – Gates is very undervalued right now. Take advantage in dynasty formats before he hits the field in that first contest.

Player
Match-Up
Week 1 Projections
QB JaMarcus Russell
vs. Chargers
195 pass yds, 0 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 10 rush yds, 0 rush TDs
RB Darren McFadden
65 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 21 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
RB Justin Fargas
25 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
WR Chaz Schilens
5 recs, 80 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
WR Johnnie Lee Higgins
3 recs, 28 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
WR Louis Murphy
3 recs, 33 rec yds, 0 rec TDs
TE Zach Miller
2 recs, 22 rec yds, 0 rec TDs

Raiders Notes:
JaMarcus Russell – FFX is not high on Russell.
Darren McFadden – McFadden might be the only well-playing Raider on in this match-up.
Chaz Schilens – Schilens is a deep sleeper fo ours this season. Monitor his play heading into Week 1.
Johnnie Lee Higgins – Higgins has talent, but that Oakland quarterback situation is very questionable this season.
Louis Murphy – Javon Walker or Darrius Heyward-Bey could end up being the third-best WR this year, but Murphy is our early favorite.

Yep. Saw them this morning and had to make a change as of now on who to start at QB is one league. I have Rodgers as my primary QB and Hasselbeck os the backup. Based on the projections, it looks like Hasselbeck will have the better week. I know you should always start your studs, but I feel Hasselbeck is healthy and will have a good outing against a really poor StL defense. With Rodgers going up against the Bears D the first week, it will be tough for him. My money is on Hasselbeck and your week 1 projections verrified that…   Is this the right move, or should I play the stud and hope for the best?

Thanks for the early week 1 projections. I'll be keeping an eye on them for updates between now and the start of the season.
