Yep. We went free last year, but back to business this year. Membership info is here…

In order to run this like a business, we have to earn, and the small fee of $19.99 for an entire NFL season of info is worth it if you ask us. If we were just a Site run buy a couple guys editing at night, we wouldn't charge, but our ability to run this as a business gives you round the clock coverage. That is our goal, and the Site will only improve every day we grow.

Forums and News are still free, FYI, but our content is worth it! We're year-round here and we're day-round.

while for the hard core FFX guys this is a no brainer, I have to admit I'm not sure whether I'm forking over $20. Disappointed for sure. Unlike the hardcore I don't feel it's the end all be all for FF success. For sure some of their lack of hesitation / eagerness to pay has to more with a emotional connection with a community or simple habit of routine. I understand how that culture helps sales though. Honestly the  most helpful part to me is still free. So a sincere thanks for that!

I've only been using the site this offseason so don't have first hand experience of what benefits it would provide during the season. Any testimonies would be helpful.

I feel like I'd need to see how my involvement here would help the success of my team during the season. Impossible to know now. It would have been nice to have had a little heads up. It felt uncool with no heads up, and It may have given us time to consider the purchase with the actual tools in hand.

Between the $20 for our league, Draft Day party expenses, and Draft Board, I just don't feel like spending anymore on FANTASY football. The $20 bucks seems to actually separate the Xtreme from well serious but maybe just maintaining priorities.

For me the verdicts still out…but it just feels a little dirty.

Dirty to charge? We are a business. It isn't just about money, as we have picked out an industry we can honestly call “not a job”.. but this is our business and what we do. We have always charged and have never deceived anyone on that. We went free this year to give back, and expand and get the word out, but we charged in 2005, and 2006.
While I understand the frustration, it's a shame anyone would take it the wrong way when we still bring some of the strongest news in the biz to everyone for free, as well as draft tools like the Draft Sim and Live Mock Drafts.
It takes money to produce a business DEDICATED all day long to bringing hardcore FF info. It may not be for everyone, in fact it WILL NOT be for everyone, but if you're a diehard fantasy football user, and you know what we provide (and again we charged every year but this past year), well we feel it's a no brainer vs. buying two magazines.
Also, it isn't out of the blue, we have held free subscription contests all off-season, posted topics on the forum in the past (which get bumped all around) and we talked about it in announcements, like the Free Subscription contests.
I feel we give back WAY more than some are realizing, and if you don't want to pay… no problem, again it's not for everyone, but our forums and news are free to use, so we still welcome those who do not want 24 hour access to Xtreme content.
Dirty is not the right word, because we have done nothing but give, as Tav and X and Craphonso dedicate A TON of time to help everyone here… and we will continue through the complaints, as the complaints are not speaking for the masses. Voicing your opinion is fine, too, I have no issues with the concerns, but lets be frank, we provide some great stuff for free. Plain and simple. What other Sites offer a draft simulator for free, or live mocks with free breaking news?
Thanks for the feedback.

I challenge anyone to find a “free” site out there with relevant content that is updated daily as news breaks.  As FFH and Haimez have astutely pointed out, they don't exist.  And yet guys have no problem going to a magazine stand and forking over 8 to 10 bucks for rankings and articles printed in May.

Look, all of the sites I consider top notch have all gone to pay in the last few years and I don't really blame them.  These guys have to earn a living just like the rest of us - and to produce essentially “live” content and keep up with the day to day activity of the NFL is a LOT of work.  If it wasn't a lot of work, we'd all do it ourselves and scour the internet 24/7 to keep up with what is going on.  That said, $20 is a pittance to pay for that kind of information and I think most realize it is well worth it.  Personally, I think the info is worth more than that.

But, if you don't want to pay, no one is forcing you to.  You can still join us on the forums and get world class advice from our member community, which in my humble opinion is second to none.  On top of that you get free mock drafting, free draft simulator, and free news - which is a reason in and of itself to come here.

I don't understand the logic in calling it “dirty” when Smitty and crew have busted their butts to make this site one stop shopping for fantasy info and have provided you a ton of info for free.

Sorry for the confusion fellas, didn't mean to get you all riled up. Just CHILL, The “Dirty” part was for me personally. It feels “dirty” to me to spend any more money on Fantasy Football. That's what I meant.

But let's not kid ourselves here. The reason then you went free for a year then was to lure people in (smart business if it wasn't going as well as you liked). And now that you have more people emotionally attached and habitually using you ask them to pay. While it may be good business it's still a little disappointing.

I remember seeing the subscription contest but look right past it. But didn't see anything else on the boards but I'm selective on what I read.

You don't have to convince me how awesome this site is. I love it…well loved it. Love seeing how my takes and understanding of the game match up to you guys. Just not sure I'm willing to pay for it. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I think it's mainly because I feel qualified to to be a professional FF guy myself without actually being one.  (No I'm not bitter…I love my job…seriously lol Cool)

Bottom line I get the reasoning for buying but I also get why people don't want to fork over the money. I personally like you guys a TON. And I understand you think your advice is the best  (and of all the site I'd agree)but after all it's no more than ESPNs, CBSs, Yahoos, etc…. educated guesses. Their's are just mostly free. I personally am torn.

I was just sticking up for the minority. But as “business men” I understand how you don't really like that.  I'd still like to hear some Draft Day and/or In Season Benefits from being a FFX member that would justify my $20. Thanks for all the help so far FFX…just not sure yet on my $20.

You all may win me over with your gosh dang manners and courteous approach even to those who disagree. Geez!

Hey TT5…I know what you mean about spending extra money on FF. I spend a lot, but I feel this site, at $20 per year is totally worth it. If it were a monthly charge or something I’d have to think about it, but for $20, it’s a no brainer for me, but I play a lot of FF so I see value in it.

Yeah you are right, they are educated guesses for the most part. No one knows if Mendenhall or Stewart are going to be the next stud. But the material is backed up with sound reasoning…it’s not just a random guess. Everyone is going to have their success stories and their “bad calls” But these guys give you great in season stuff like weekly projections for each game, players on the rise each week, waiver wire gems to pick up in say a dynasty format.

It’s not the only site I use, but it’s one of them and a big one. The forums themselves are worth $20! Best ones going. You can’t get that kind of advice anywhere…especially the manor in which people are treated.

In the end TT5 it’s up to you. I can see people not wanting to spend the $20, I honestly can. But as I said I think it’s worth the money…some guys have broken it down to $1.25 per NFL week…whatever it is, it’s better than spending on a football mag. that is useless by the time it’s published.

Unfortunately you will have some people get upset. Especially the ones that have only been coming here when it was free.  I paid in 2006 so I know it wasn't always free.  I was tickled to death when in 2007 it was free.

You guys rock and I won't leave.  I suggest everyone to pay.  20 bucks is chump change guys.  For year round information I think that's worth it.

I just need to get a paypal account as you guys don't take visa/mastercard.

I'm disappionted mostly because I'm cheap and have already spent  all the money that I had allocated for fantasy info.  I know it's less than a cup of coffee but I can only afford so many cups.  Maybe next year.  I would really like to hear about how well FFX did on  weekly projections for each game, players on the rise each week, waiver wire gems to pick up and rankings.  Just stumbled onto you guys a few months ago and do think you guys put out a great product of what I've seen so far.

I have only been coming here a few weeks and think its a great site,  but personally it's not worth $20 to me with all the free info out there. I would rather get free info from multiple sources and make my own predictions rather than paying $20 and relying on one source. *edit*

Going back to a pay site has been a “topic” for quite some time, I am not quite sure how people feel that they are being tricked, duped or blindsided by it.  I hate to see anyone not return here because of it, but so goes life.  I have been a member of a lot of message boards on a variety of topics and this is by far the best place I have ever been to.  Everyone is very helpful, respectful, and will still give a little crap when needed.  This is the first place I go for breaking news and do value the rankings and spot lights even though I dont always agree with them.  Of all the sites that I visit, free or otherwise, FFX is by far the best.  Yeah they are not gonna hit it on the head every time, but in the end it is up to you to make the right decision for your team based on the info that they give.  If these guys were 100% accurate they would not charge 20 bucks but 10 times that much, which would be impossible, which is why I love FF cause it aint never gonna happen. Hope no one leaves over it, cause I love reading all the posts on here, but to quote Mario Manningham…..”It is what it is”….

Seeing all the player spotlights cranked out got me interested in what you guys were saying about them all. Finally decided to pay today and I'm positive it will be worth it. Love the work you guys put into this site and the great info. 20 bucks is nothing for receiving year long info. I've spent 20-30 bucks on 3 FF mags to only read them once or twice. Can't wait for the season to start
